The Miami Sector Border Patrol Chief Agent Walter N Slosar tweeted on Friday that agents responded to a maritime smuggling event and encountered the migrants from Romania Haiti, and T&T.
This occurred one day after the Border Patrol reported that 80 Cuban nationals were taken into US Border Patrol custody from four migrant landlings throughout the Florida Keys.
On Sunday, two days after the T&T nationals were held, Slosar again reported 79 Cubans being held from another four migrant landlings along Florida Keys. They made the landing on homemade vessels.
In a recap posted on Monday, The US Border Patrol Miami Sector disclosed that for the period October 1 to December 11, migrant encounters increased 500% compared to the same period last year and maritime smuggling events had a 330% increase compared to the same period last year.
