TRINIDAD and Tobago representative for Miss World Jeanine Brandt has tested positive for Covid-19.
The results came one day after the postponement of the 2021 Miss World Competition in Puerto Rico, due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.
A release from Miss World T&T on Friday, confirmed Brandt’s result came upon her departure at the San Juan Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve in Puerto Rico, where the finals were scheduled to be held on Thursday night.
Brandt now joined several other contestants, pageant staffers and officials who had tested positive within the past week and led to the postponement of the finals.
The release stated, “Brandt has been assessed by medical personnel and is doing well, and remains in quarantine, as per Puerto Rico health regulations.
“The team would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support shown over the past months for Jeanine Brandt.”
Officials stated that upon a meeting with virologists and medical experts along with the Puerto Rico Health Department, a decision has been made by the organisers of the event to postpone the finale, which would be held at the Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot to be held within 90 days.
