Traffic Disruptions in Barrackpore, Siparia

CULVERT construction works have begun along the Cunjal Road 1.2 km mark, Barrackpore.

The Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) in a press release on Tuesday stated the disruption will take place along the Cunjal Road 1.2 km mark, Barrackpore (between the Junction of Battan Trace and Cunjal Road and Junction of Realize Road and Cunjal Road).

Works commenced from Wednesday (today) to March 7 from 9 am to 7 pm and the roadway shall only accommodate local traffic for today.

Motorists are advised to observe all directional signs and barriers, and to comply with instructions from Police Officers or flag persons on-site, to facilitate a safe and orderly flow of traffic and utilise the roadway for local traffic only for the stated date.

The ministry said, “To bypass this road coming from north via the following: bypass the Junction at Realize Road and Cunjal Road, continue along Realize Road to the Junction at Realize Road and Cumuto Road, continue along Cumuto to the Junction at Cumuto Road and Battan Trace, continue unto Battan Trace to the Junction at Battan Trace and Cunjal Road and vice versa for commuters coming from south.”

In addition, motorists should be aware of heavy equipment entering and exiting the work zone.

Meanwhile, there will be a temporary closure of the double Bailey Bridge in Siparia, along the S.S. Erin Road, Siparia, 14.23km Mark on from February 24.

This was to facilitate maintenance works to the Bailey Bridge from 9 am to 2 pm, the release stated.

The ministry has advised the public the following traffic restrictions will be in effect:

“B 1/15 S.S. Erin Road, Siparia (northbound) will be closed, while maintenance works are being conducted. As such, all vehicular traffic will be diverted onto B 1/15 S.S. Erin Road, Siparia (southbound), and vice versa.”

They also stated during this period, traffic wardens will be present to control the movement of all motorists during the period of work.
