THE blood bank in Tobago is severely low and an appeal is being made for blood donors to come forward.
At the Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development virtual conference on Thursday, the Division’s Senior Corporate Communications Officer Rion George reminded Tobagonians of the blood drive being undertaken.
Medical Chief of Staff at the Scarborough General Hospital Dr Victor Wheeler later informed AZPNews.com, “We cater for 10 persons a day to donate blood. Recently we are only getting just about two or three persons a day.”
Persons are being encouraged to give blood at the Scarborough General Hospital on Mondays to Fridays between 8am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 12 noon.
And earlier this week, health officials at the Ministry of Health’s press conference said vaccinated persons against the Covid-19 virus can donate blood as long as they were not experiencing any side effects of the vaccine.
