Teenager Arrested, One Suspect Dead Following Armed Home Invasion in Valsayn

A 14-year-old boy was one of two suspects arrested during a home invasion in Valsayn. Another suspect was fatally shot by police and is yet to be identified.

The teenager, from St Joseph, was arrested along with a 22-year-old man from Port of Spain, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated via a media release on Tuesday.

The invasion took place at approximately 12.59 pm on Monday at a residence along Valsayn Avenue, Valsayn North.

According to police reports, four male suspects armed with weapons entered the home by scaling a perimeter wall. One of the occupants was confronted and threatened, while other residents raised an alarm, causing the suspects to flee the scene.

Officers of the North Central Division Task Force (NCD-TF) responded promptly and conducted searches in the surrounding areas, resulting in the arrest of the two suspects.

Officers of the Home Invasion Team, based on information received, then proceeded to Farm Road Extension, Curepe, where they were engaged by a third suspect who was armed. During this confrontation, the suspect was fatally shot.

One additional suspect remains at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him, police stated.

No injuries to the occupants of the home have been reported.

Investigations are continuing under the supervision of officers attached to the St. Joseph Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

The TTPS is urging anyone with information that may assist in this investigation to contact the police at 999, 555, or the nearest police station.
