ONE of the candidates in the United National Congress (UNC) internal elections is not commenting on a meeting he had with the Progressive Empowerment Party (PEP).
Contacted on Friday, Don Sylvester said he was not commenting on anything that his opponent Ramona Ramdial says.
She said that on January 25 and February 5, this year, Sylvester met with PEP leader Phillip Edward Alexander and other members of that party.
Ramona claimed that Sylvester, the sitting elections officer of the UNC, expressed his intention to leave the UNC and join the PEP.
This was confirmed to AZP News on Friday by Alexander who said that he was surprised that Sylvester went up again for the UNC executive.
Alexander said Sylvester was supposed to be the coordinator of the three Diego Martin seats for the PEP.
Told that Alexander also confirmed the meetings, Sylvester again offered no comment.
Ramona said this was against the constitution of the UNC and has written to the elections committee for clarity.
She said she wanted to know whether Sylvester had resigned his post as election officer or from the UNC before meeting with the PEP.
Ramona said this could be grounds to pull Sylvester’s candidacy in the elections.
The UNC internal elections will be held on Sunday and out of the 18 positions, Sylvester’s is only one of three that is being contested.
Ramona please get a life and stop the sour grapes attitude
