THE newly-appointed board of the Solid Waste Management Company Limited (SWMCOL) is being urged to find new ways of which to dispose of the country’s waste.
Members of the board on Wednesday were given their Instruments of Appointment at the Ministry of Public Utilities head office in St Clair.
The board is now headed by Chairman Ron Milford along with Deputy Chairman Steve Waldron.
Other members are Reval Chattergoon, Jabari Jacob, Yvonne Sarabjit, Roger Murray, Cecil DA Legendre, Lea Ramoutar Vialva, Gerard Ramarack and Candace Solomon.
Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales suggested by placing greater emphasis on recycling programmes, among other things, there can be innovative and environmentally-friendly methods of waste disposal.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary Nicolette Duke, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Beverly Khan and Technical Advisor to the Minister Anthony Bartholomew, as well as technical staff from the Ministry’s Economic Research, Policy and Planning Division also attended.
