A STATE funeral be held in honour of Trinidad and Tobago’s fifth prime minister Basdeo Panday.
This was announced in a release from the Office of the Prime Minister – Communications on Tuesday.
Panday passed away on Monday. He was 90.
The release stated: “The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago extends deepest condolences to the family of the late Basdeo Panday, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, who passed away on January 1st 2024. Mr. Panday was the fifth Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and served in that capacity from November 9th, 1995 to December 24th, 2001.
“A State Funeral will be held in honour of the late former Prime Minister. Further details will be conveyed at a later date.”
