PEOPLE’s National Movement (PNM) candidate for Chaguanas East Richie Sookhai is asking that on Monday, the people of Chaguanas East start afresh with him.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, he wrote, “Tomorrow, we have the chance to turn the page and give Chaguanas East the fresh start it deserves. I humbly ask you to come out and vote, let’s build a brighter future together.”

Sookhai, campaigned vigorously for the past month in the hope that the marginal seat held by the United National Congress (UNC) for the past 15 years, can go back to the PNM.
He thanked everyone who supported him in the journey.
“As we come to the close of this election campaign, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank each and every one of you. As a son of Chaguanas, this has always been home, and over the last few months, your love and strength in a better tomorrow have fuelled me every single day,” Sookhai said.

He added, “I want to sincerely thank the wonderful people of Chaguanas East, my amazing campaign team and my family for all the love, support, and respect you have shown throughout this journey. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to meet so many incredible people, to listen to your hopes, your struggles, and your dreams for a better tomorrow.”
Sookhai said, “This campaign was never just about politics—it was about people. It was about building something stronger, together. With every handshake, conversation, and word of encouragement, you reminded me why I chose to serve.”
He promised constituents that if they lend him their vote, they will never take it back.

Fresh start? What does mean? No recusal is required to give friends and family acquaintances contracts or does it mean recusal …..one per minister? We need a new governance model which this PNM government has a difficulty understanding what the citizens need
