Sexual-Assault Suspects Suffering from Injuries

A 63-YEAR-OLD man allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl and a Jamaican man, 27, was allegedly caught having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.

The Child Protection Unit (CPU) is currently investigating these  separate cases.

Police reported that on Monday, the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) responded to a call from the Police Command Centre of an assault at Small Street, Success Village, Laventille.

On arrival, the officers spoke to the parents of a 13- year-old teenager who reported that sometime during the month of June, 2020, the 63-year-old man known to the family sexually assaulted their daughter in their home.

During that period, it is alleged that the suspect threatened to kill the victim and members of her family if she said anything about the incident.

The officers detained the suspect who had marks of violence and was bleeding.

The Emergency Health Services was contacted and the suspect was taken to hospital for treatment.

The parents and the 13-year-old girl were taken to the Belmont Police Station where acting Corporal Deonarine and PC Rudder, of the Port-of-Spain CPU are continuing enquiries.

In the second incident on Monday, officers of the Freeport Police Station responded to a report of a suspect being detained by residents of Lion Drive, Orange Field Road, Chase Village.

When police officers reached to the scene, the Jamaican was seen suffering from injuries.

Further enquiries revealed that the man was allegedly caught having intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.

Both the alleged suspect and victim were taken to hospital where they were medically attended to.

The man was later admitted to hospital where he was being treated under police guard.
