SEVERAL staff members at the Office of the President (OTP) have tested positive for Covid-19.
The office now operates with a skeleton staff.
A release by OTP stated that last weekend a member of staff had tested positive for Covid-19 and that more than 40 personnel at the office were tested.
It stated that the conduct of recent events was reviewed and all pandemic protocols – face masks, sanitising and social distancing- were observed. It noted that risk to external people were negligible.
The release stated that President Paula-Mae Weekes, who has been in self isolation since the staff member tested positive, and other staffers (who tested positive) remain in good spirits.
It stated that all public engagements have been postponed until the Ministry of Health gives the all clear.
In the meantime, the release stated that testing of staff continues.
