THE school transport programme is expected to resume by February 16.
This according to Minister of Education Dr Nyan Gadsby-Dolly in an answer to an Urgent Question by MP for Tabaquite Anita Haynes in Parliament on Friday.
Haynes asked Gadsby-Dolly when the school transportation services would resume for students.
Dr Gadsby-Dolly said, “The finalisation of the attendance data has taken place during the first week of increased school attendance and the Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC) has confirmed that they should start the school transport programme by February 16.”
On February 7, all Secondary school students, Forms One to Three students resumed physical classes on a rotation as they now joined their seniors in four to six who had continued physical classes from January 3.
Primary school students in Standard Five began their physical classes, four days per week from 8.30 am to 2 pm in preparation for the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam.
However, when Haynes enquired about measures to facilitate the outstanding payments to some of these maxi drivers, Speaker of the House, Bridgid Annisette-George replied, “Having regard to the question that was asked and the answer given, this was not an allowable question under Supplemental Questions.”
