A SCRAP iron dealer was gunned down on Saturday night in Claxton Bay.
Deshawn Mc Clean was shot dead along Rig Road No 1, Claxton Bay, near his home.
Police stated that around 7.30 pm, Mc Clean was at home with his mother and other relatives and left home telling his mother that he was going to meet someone named “Blacks”.
Shortly after leaving home, several explosions were heard and his mother looked outside to see her son lying motionless on the roadway.
By the time police arrived at the scene, Mc Clean had already died.
Crime scene investigators retrieved four 9 mm bullet casings, two 9 mm bullets and a pair of black rubber slippers.
The surrounding area was searched for suspects but no one has been arrested. Police believe the shooting could be drug-related.
Mc Clean’s body was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary. An autopsy is expected to take place at the Forensic Science Centre in St James on Monday.
