MILLIONS of an experimental coronavirus vaccine will be produced in Russia this year, after researchers say a trial on 38 people is a success.
Al Jazeera reported that Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) head Kirill Dmitriev said 30 million doses will be produced domestically in 2020, with the potential to manufacture an additional 170 million abroad.
It stated that the first human trial of the vaccine, a month long test, was completed this week.
Researchers said it was safe for use and induced an immune response, though its strength was unclear.
Dmitriev said, “A larger Phase III trial involving several thousand people is expected to begin in August.”
