AUTHORITIES  in Indonesia say 30 people have been killed and hundreds displaced by flash floods and landslides, after heavy rainfall in Sulawesi.

Reuters reported that Indonesia’s search rescue agency spokesman Yusuf Latif said 15 people were still missing and three nearby rivers had burst their banks.

Over 4,000 residents were affected and footage showed dozens of houses partially submerged by thick mud up to their roofs.

Indonesia is affected by floods and landslides, especially during the rainy season, but the situation is worsened by the cutting down of forests.
