PRIME Minister Dr the Hon Keith Rowley attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Georgetown Seafront Resort and Convention Center in Guyana on Sunday.
He is in Guyana to participate in Guyana’s 2024 Energy Conference and Supply Expo and the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
President of Guyana Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali invited Dr Rowley to witness the ceremonial commencement of the five-star facility which will be constructed by Qatar-based firm, Assets Group.
After the event, Dr Rowley, along with the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young met with Ramez Al-Khayyat, Vice Chairman and President of the Assets Group and a team from his organisation.
The conference begins today and Dr Rowley will deliver an address at the opening ceremony.
The theme of the event is “Fuelling Transformation and Modernisation”. It aims to foster the exchange of innovative ideas, proposals, and strategies for substantial advancements within the energy sector.
While in Guyana Dr Rowley will also attend the 46th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government under the Chairmanship of Dr Ali.
Regional leaders will focus on several issues including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy, Food and Nutrition Security, Climate Resilience, Energy Security and Regional Security.
The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne will join Dr Rowley at the CARICOM meeting.
Minister of Finance Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister until Dr Rowley’s return.
