THE Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has issued a Riverine Flood Alert.
A yellow level alert warning is also in effect.
It stated on Wednesday that light to moderate rainfall was expected to continue intermittently over the course of the day.
Landslides/landslips were possible in areas so prone.
TTMS stated that some areas in south Trinidad were already inundated due to localised ponding and this may be further exacerbated at high tide at 3:20 p.m.
Meanwhile the Office of Disaster Preparedness Management ODPM has noted reports of flooding in parts of Penal and Siparia this morning.
Areas affected include:
- Penal Rock Road
- Clarke Rochard Road
- Lower Barrackpore
- Mendez Village, Siparia
Field officers from the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Development have been dispatched to conduct assessments and provide assistance, the ODPM stated.

The ODPM has advised that people affected by the adverse weather could contact the Disaster Management Unit in their respective Regional Corporation.
It also advised motorists to exercise caution in these areas. Avoid intentionally walking or driving through flood water.
