A RECORD 28 people have died from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
This is according to the latest update (#914) of the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
This was the highest number of people to pass away in one day in Trinidad and Tobago from Covid-19. The previous highest was on May 18, this year, when 23 people passed away and last week Saturday when 22 were reported to have died from the coronavirus.
At the press briefing of the Ministry of Health on Saturday, Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram said 50% of people with a viral illness in the country could have Covid-19.
The ministry also reported that there were 510 patients being treated for Covid-19 in hospitals in the parallel healthcare system. This is the highest number since the pandemic started last year.
