TWO places have been designated from Monday to accommodate public servants in getting their Covid-19 vaccines.
On Wednesday, at the final Ministry of Health’s virtual Covid- 19 update for 2021, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said they can also visit any other site including mass vaccination sites on Wednesday and Thursday should they desire to get a vaccine.
He said, “One will be at the Government Plaza St Vincent Street. That site was activated a couple of months ago when we were encouraging public officers to come out. They are familiar with that site. That will be dedicated solely to public officers to make it convenient for them.
“We will be dedicating two separate lines at SAPA Southern Academy for Performing Arts especially for public officers.”
Following Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s announcement that all public sector workers had to be vaccinated if they wanted to work at state establishments from mid-January 2022, there have been several meetings with trade unions that are against the measure.
However, Attorney General Faris Al-Rawi maintained that the measure stays and asked for alternative recommendations from the unions.
Deyalsingh also said since the announcement, there has been an increase in vaccination in healthcare workers.
