A large-scale rescue operation is in progress in the hills of Dibe, Long Circular, as police and soldiers search for a 12-year-old boy reportedly kidnapped by a close male relative on Friday morning.
The suspect, age 33, allegedly abducted the boy after stabbing his wife, who is now hospitalised.
The incident occurred around 2 am, following an argument between the suspect and the woman that escalated into violence.
In a press briefing at the Police Administration Building in Port-of-Spain, Assistant Commissioner of Police Curt Simon confirmed that all available resources are being utilised to locate the missing boy and the suspect.
Drones and the K-9 Unit have been deployed in the forested area, while soldiers and personnel from various branches of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service are conducting a thorough search of the hills on foot.
