Police Kill Teen

ONE 19-year-old man was killed and seven others ages 18 to 29 were arrested following a police-involved shooting incident.

Jordan Nathan, of Dinsley Village, was killed when the incident occurred in the Tacarigua district on Friday night.

Reports are that around 9.05 pm, officers were on mobile patrol in the district when they received information about a group of men allegedly tampering with a Nissan Sylphy motor vehicle. 

The officers went to the location where they observed the activities of the group. The men looked in the direction of the officers and ran off into a nearby house before allegedly shooting at them.

The officers, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy, returned fire in the direction of the suspects, hitting one of them. The suspect was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, where he was pronounced dead. 

One revolver and four live rounds of .38 ammunition were recovered from the scene. 

With the assistance of other Units, the other suspects were arrested in the immediate surrounding areas. 

Investigations are ongoing, a release from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) stated on Sunday.
