TWO men were killed and one arrested during a police-involved shooting in central on Thursday morning.
Police reported on Friday that officers of the Central Division Task Force responded to a report of robbery at a supermarket at Mon Plasir Road, Cunupia, around 11am.
Officers were soon engaged in a high-speed chase, as the suspects attempted to escape in a motor vehicle.
During the chase, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the officers. The suspects’ stopped along Boy Cato Road, Las Lomas. The men then exited the vehicle and continued shooting in the direction of the officers.
The officers in accordance with the Use of Force Policy, returned fire in the direction of the suspects, police said.
Two were shot and died at the scene, while a third was arrested and a fourth escaped. One Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing two rounds of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
A quantity of cash, alcohol and cigarettes which were stolen from the supermarket, were also recovered.
The identities of the deceased suspects are yet to be ascertained and the search is on for the fourth man.
