THE Police Complaints Authority (PCA) will investigate the police killing of a Diego Martin man despite his father saying he would not make a complaint.
A release by the PCA on Tuesday stated that Director of the Police Complaints Authority Mr David West offered his condolences to the father and family of Lennon Noray Jr, 21, who died during a police-involved shooting in Bagatelle, Diego Martin, on July 3.
It stated, “Mr West has taken notice of an online newspaper report which stated that Lennon Noray Sr does not intend to report his son’s killing to the PCA. However, Mr West confirmed that the PCA will still conduct an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of Mr Noray Jr.
“The PCA Director has asked witnesses to contact the PCA at 226-4722, email at info@pca.org.tt, or visit the head office at Level 24, Tower D, International Waterfront Centre, 1A Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain.”
Police said just after 6.30 pm last Wednesday during an anti-crime exercise in the West End District they saw some people running along a street off Bagatelle Road.
It was reported that police said they saw a man of African descent holding his waist. Officers followed the man and saw him pull out a silver and black gun from his waist. Police then shot him. He was taken to the St James Health Facility where he was pronounced dead just before 7 pm.
