THE Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is trying to make it easier for delinquent customers to pay their arrears.

On Monday, it launched the More Ways to Pay initiative in collaboration with the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TSTT) and the Trinidad and Tobago International Financial Centre (TTIFC) at the Government Plaza Auditorium in Port of Spain on Monday.

The portal was demonstrated by TSTT’s Assistant General Manager of Emerging Services and Innovation Keino Cox.

Customers can log on and pay their bills in minutes, he said.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development Camille Robinson-Regis said, “This new online platform was developed by TSTT and is integrated by payment service providers such as PayPal, Pay wise, Google Wallet, Apple Pay and other payment solutions.”

Managing Director of the HDC Jayselle McFarlene said there was a suite of options for customers to honour their legal obligations as More Ways to Pay removes all the hassle and impediments to pay their debts.

She said, “The HDC has made significant use of modern technology to improve the options to its customers.”

McFarlene said in addition to traditional methods such as salary deductions and over-the-counter payments there will be others such as:

  • HDC outreach project where recoveries teams will be making home visits equipped with Linx machines;
  • Payments can be made at NLCB and WiPay;
  • First Citizens, Republic Bank and RBC will be added as payees for online payments;
  • Credit card payments;
  • HDC will launch an App before June 2023 to provide a one-stop internet application to allow customers to pay online; and
  • Roving HDC caravans will visit communities to encourage customers to pay debts.
