JAMAICA has restricted travel from Trinidad and Tobago because of the Brazilian variant of the Covid-19 virus.
This was announced by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley at a press conference on Monday.
Dr Rowley said, “Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Jamaica gave me the courtesy of informing me that from today, Jamaica will put Trinidad and Tobago on a restriction list of countries from which persons cannot travel.”
This is due to the increasing Covid-19 cases with specific reference to the P1 variant as Minister of National Security Fitzgerald Hinds discussed the protection of borders and the possible transmission of the virus.
Dr Rowley made the announcement along with further lockdown measures to curb the virus’s spread. (SW)
