CALYPSO Monarch 2023 is Duane Ta’zyah O’Connor, son of former monarch Duane O’ Connor.
Ta’Zyah, on Sunday delivered strongly to beat out his other 11 contestants in the Dimanche Gras Show at Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain, on Sunday.
Performing for the first time in the Calypso Monarch, Ta’Zyah encouraged his audience to “Sing Hallelujah” giving thanks for all the blessings in Trinidad and Tobago.
The young Calypso Monarch is a former Junior Calypso Monarch and also placed second in this year’s Young Kings competition.
The second place and people’s choice award went to Kerine “Tiny” Williams-Figaro who sang “To You With Love.”
Karene Asche placed third with her rendition of “Oasis.”
