THE United Nationals Congress (UNC) has requested recounts in 12 districts following the Local Government Elections that were held on Monday. This takes the official number of recounts to 14.
In a release on Tuesday, the Election and Boundaries Commission (EBC) had stated that there were 13 recounts with the UNC asking for 11 and the People’s National Movement (PNM) two.
But in a subsequent release, the EBC stated there were now 14 and added another one requested by the UNC -Maracas/Santa Margarita – to the list of recounts.
The list of the electoral districts and political party of the candidate requesting the recount:
1. Arima Northeast (UNC)
2. Arima West/O’Meara (UNC)
3. Auzonville/Tunapuna (UNC)
4. Bagatelle/Blue Basin (UNC)
5. Blanchisseuse/Santa Rosa (UNC)
6. Cocoyea/Tarouba (UNC)
7. Five Rivers (UNC)
8. Lengua/Indian Walk (UNC)
9. Marabella West (PNM)
10. Marabella South/Vistabella (PNM)
11. Maracas/Santa Margarita (UNC)
12. Mayaro North (UNC)
13. Sangre Grande Northeast (UNC)
14. San Juan East (UNC)
