THE power outage caused by a fallen transmission tower in Rousillac has also affected water supply.
In a media release on Tuesday night, the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) stated that due to the collapse of the tower in Rousillac that occurred earlier several areas would have been without water.
Areas affected included parts of Diego Martin and Paramin, El Dorado, Tacarigua, Caparo, Freeport, Carlsen Field, Gran Couva, La Brea, Vessigny, Sobo, Union Industrial Estate, Santa Flora, Fyzabad, Penal, Siparia.
Additionally, on Tuesday, WASA also issued several releases advising of interruptions in water supply in other areas.
The Authority said emergency maintenance work was being done on a leaking 12″ diameter pipeline at the corner of the Diego Martin Main Road and Sierra Leone Road.
Customers serviced by the North Oropouche Water Treatment plant were also affected on Tuesday. WASA said it was necessary to facilitate emergency cleaning of the raw water intake at the facility.
In Moruga, there will be interruptions on Wednesday as WASA attempts to conduct emergency pipeline repair works at LP 333 Moruga Road.
And on Thursday, customers serviced by the Valsayn B Booster Station will experience interruptions. WASA said it will be replacing a defective valve in the vicinity of Morvant Junction in the vicinity of the Priority Bus Route.
