RESIDENTS in parts of Northeast Trinidad serviced by the North Oropouche Water Treatment Plant are advised to prepare for a temporary water supply shutdown on Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm.
The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) announced the planned interruption to facilitate critical cleaning and desilting works at the facility’s intake in a release on Thursday.
Affected communities include Sangre Grande (Town), Sangre Chiquito, Manzanilla, Coalmine, Guaico/Guaico Tamana, Malabar Phases 1, 3 & 4, Tumpuna Road, San Rafael, Brazil, La Horquetta, Carapo/O’Meara Road, Signature Park/Mausica Road, Maloney Gardens, Five Rivers, Millennium Park, Sunrise Park, and Golden Grove Road.
WASA emphasized that while the maintenance is expected to conclude by late afternoon, residents in some areas may experience delays of up to 24 hours before water service fully stabilizes. The authority urged customers to store adequate water in advance and use it sparingly during this period.
For assistance or to request truck-borne water deliveries, affected customers can contact WASA’s toll-free Customer Call Centre at 800-4420/26. Updates and additional details will also be shared via WASA’s official communication channels.
