NO United National Congress (UNC) candidate in the upcoming Local Government Elections has been arrested.

This was stated in a press release from the UNC on Sunday after reports on social media suggested that a UNC candidate was arrested by an off-duty police officer at a bar in El Dorado for being in the possession of a loaded pistol.

The social media posts suggested that he was arrested after 2 am and he was not believed to be in the possession of a firearm user’s licence.

The release stated, “The United National Congress affirms that no UNC local government election candidate has been arrested, early this morning or at any time.”

It added, “Please disregard all disinformation sources alleging otherwise.”
