ALL schools are closed today (Monday, November 28, 2022) in Trinidad and Tobago, due to nationwide flooding.
The Ministry of Education in a press release at 6 pm on Sunday stated, “As a safety precaution, based on the weather conditions, which have persisted over the last few hours, the projected overnight rainfall and the present levels of major rivers all school in Trinidad will be closed on Monday, November 28th, 2022.”
The ministry stated that the decision was made based on information from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) and the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Government as well as the Ministry of Works and Transport.
Unless a further advisory from the Ministry of Education is issued, schools will re-open on Tuesday except where clean-up operation in schools may be necessary and in such cases, parents will be advised directly through the school’s principal, the ministry said.
The ministry added that it would continue to monitor updates from the TTMS.
In Tobago, the Division of Education, Research and Technology in a media release also issued on Sunday stated that the Division’s Secretary urged pupils to use the time to complete outstanding assignments and prepare for end-of-term assessment.
Schools in Tobago will also resume classes on Tuesday unless if further advised.
