DESPITE not playing mas, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has tested positive for Covid-19 again two days after Carnival 2023.
This is the fourth time Dr Rowley has contracted the virus.
The Office of the Prime Minister in a Facebook post stated at 10.44 am on Thursday that Dr Rowley tested positive after experiencing mild flu-like symptoms on Wednesday night.
The Prime Minister’s Office stated, “Dr Rowley will remain in isolation in keeping with the current Covid -19 protocols. He will continue working from his office at the Prime Minister’s residence. He is scheduled to lead the weekly Cabinet meeting this morning and is expected to attend Parliament virtually tomorrow where he will answer Prime Minister’s Questions.”
Dr Rowley was scheduled to host a press conference on Thursday at 2.30 pm at the Diplomatic Centre in St Ann’s.
In an Express report on Ash Wednesday, Dr Rowley said he spent Carnival Tuesday at his desk working and played golf on Monday.
He said he did have a taste of Carnival attending Brian Lara’s Carnival Sunday fete and Panorama on Saturday.
But, Dr Rowley did not play mas in 2023. This was the first time since the pandemic that Carnival has been in full swing.
He said he decided to take his own advice and stay away from large crowds and mixing.
