THE National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) announced today the successful execution of a new Gas Sales Contract (GSC) with downstream petrochemical producer Trinidad Nitrogen Company Limited (TRINGEN).
The agreement, signed on Monday secures a continued natural gas supply for one of the longest-operating ammonia producers on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate, reinforcing the long-standing commercial relationship between the two energy entities, a release from NGC stated.
Present at the signing ceremony were NGC Chairman Gerald Ramdeen and Acting President Edmund Subryan, who met with TRINGEN’s Chairman Emerson Chedee and Vice President of Operations Treveno Mowassie to finalise the deal.
Acting NGC President Edmund Subryan praised the successful negotiations. He said, “It demonstrates the value of sustained collaboration within our energy sector and reinforces our collective commitment to supporting the natural gas value chain and maintaining Trinidad and Tobago’s position as a reliable ammonia producer.”
Ramdeen said, “The terms that have been agreed evidence the shared purpose of ensuring the maximum return to the people of this country from the monetising of their natural resources at every point in the gas value chain.”
He added that the contract will directly contribute to sustaining vital economic activity at Point Lisas and ensuring the long-term viability of the local petrochemical industry.
