THE National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) has signed a new gas supply contract with bpTT.
This was announced in a release by the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries which stated that its line minister Stuart Young witnessed the contract signing ceremony on Friday. It took place at the Hyatt Regency.
Young congratulated both NGC and bpTT on negotiating in a collaborative manner a new gas supply contract which secures future gas supply to NGC.
It stated that this gas will be utilised for the downstream petrochemical sector and electricity production.
The release stated, “The sanctioning of this future gas supply was part of the discussions that took place at the bp Headquarters, St James’ Square, London, UK, between the Prime Minister, Dr the honourable Keith Rowley and Bernard Looney, CEO of bp’s Global Operations on September 15th 2022, where Minister Young was also in attendance, as were other bp executives including Ms Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, EVP gas and low carbon energy.”
It stated, “The Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago welcomes this crucial future supply of gas which is a clear and tangible indicator of bp’s continued commitment to Trinidad and Tobago.”
