LONDON – WITHIN hours of Mauricio Pochettino being sacked as Tottenham Hotspur head coach, he is replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Tottenham made the announcement early Wednesday morning and ESPN is quoting sources that Mourinho’s contract is worth around £15 million a year.

Mourinho, 56, the former Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid has a deal to run the club until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement, “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.

“He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

This will be Mourinho’s third Premier League club having won three Premier League titles (2004-05, 2005-06, 2014-15) across two stints at Chelsea.

Between 2016 and 2018, he was in charge of Manchester United, winning the 2016-17 Europa League crown.
