A pensioner has been charged with the possession of an illegal firearm and is expected to face additional charges for the possession of cannabis for trafficking.
On Saturday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), acting on intelligence, proceeded to an address at St Trace, Marac Village, Moruga.
In a press release, the TTPS stated upon the premises, PC Hosein observed the occupant, a 65-year-old-man, holding a shotgun, which was immediately seized.
A search of the premises led to the discovery of two kilogrammes of dried cannabis, well above the legally permitted amount, hidden in a crocus bag.
The pensioner was arrested and taken to the San Fernando Police Station, along with the firearm and narcotics.
The TTPS stated the suspect was later charged with possession of a firearm and was expected to face an additional charge for the possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
