THE Minister of Health Dr Lackram Bodoe and Minister in the Ministry of Health Dr Rishad Seecheran visited the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) in Port of Spain on Friday.
The visit formed part of Minister Bodoe’s ongoing efforts to familiarise himself with the operations of the Ministry, The Ministry of Health stated via media release.
The ministers met with staff and were briefed on the NBTS’s critical role in maintaining the safety and availability of the national blood supply.
Minister Bodoe underscored the importance of high-quality testing standards across laboratory services, especially in relation to blood safety.
He said, “The Ministry of Health remains committed to strengthening institutional capacity within the health sector, and visits such as this one form an important part of efforts to ensure continuous improvement, transparency, and stakeholder engagement.”
The visit also aligned with Minister Bodoe’s push to encourage non-remunerated voluntary blood donations across Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr Bodoe urged citizens to view blood donation as a vital act of national service.
