MINISTER in the Ministry of Housing Anil Roberts was involved in an early morning accident on Saturday.
He is safe and suffered minor injuries.
“I am okay and I hope everybody else is okay,” he said in a Facebook post just after 10 am.
He said news got out he was involved in an accident and he wanted to let the public know, he was doing well although the impact at the moment was strong.
The accident occurred at 5.23 am while he was on his way to the junior national swimming team squad practice, Roberts said. The accident occurred on the Beetham Highway in the vicinity of the gas station.
This is Robert’s account:
“I was driving east, the inside lane, the fast lane. A white BMW was to the left in the middle lane. He decided to zing to the inside slow lane to overtake.
“At that exact time, a white Wingroad was moving very slowly in the slow lane caused the BMW to give the man in the middle lane, a bad drive, swerving on him.
“A guy in another sort of grey Wingroad pulled away from that white BMW hit me broadside on the left, I then hit the median of the Beetham Highway.”
“Scrape up, grate up the tyres and hit the median and came to a stop.”
He then looked in his rearview mirror and saw a car coming straight at him.
“All I could do, thankfully, I had on my seatbelt… and I just brace for the impact. And the impact was really an impact.”
Roberts said he received some bruises to his head and back pains and his Ford Everest sustained.
But the car that hit him was not in the best of shape.
He said there were three persons and one had to go to the hospital.
Ambulance and fire officers were at the scene which caused a traffic pile-up for a while.
Roberts made a report to the Besson Street Police Station.
He said he hoped everyone was ok especially one passenger who seemed to be in extreme pain.
But to the man in the white BMW who he cast blame on for the entire accident and who was home “eating doubles and drinking coffee” Roberts said, “You stay calm, think about what you did because you drive like an imbecile, you get away but four or five other cars get in the accident.”
He added, “White BMW at 5.23 am on the Beetham only you and you would know who you are… White BMW, you could have cause people to die with your wildness.”
