MARIJUANA has been discovered in a FedEx package sent from the United States to the British Virgin Islands (BVI).
BVI News reported that customs officers at the Terrance B Lettsome International Airport became suspicious about the package’s content because of the strong smell they received when they were handling the package.
The police were alerted and upon their investigations, the discovery was made to be marijuana and although the weight could not confirm, BVI News stated that it was under two kilogrammes.
The contact number on the package also went unanswered when called.
BVI News reported that it was unclear if anyone was held in connection to the find.
In recent months, there have been several major drug busts in the Caribbean as authorities have been following several leads, resulting in shipping containers being searched in other countries.
