A MARCH against crime is being planned for today (Saturday, May 6, 2023).
Approval has been granted by the police.
Organisers of the march, the First Wave Movement, activist Victor Roberts and others are inviting members of the public to join them in highlighting the serious criminal situation in Trinidad and Tobago.
Meeting point is at the Aranguez Savannah and the meeting time is at 1 pm.
I comes after a number of murders, home invasions and robberies in the Aranguez area and environs. The murder rate in Trinidad and Tobago has also crossed 200 for the year so far.
The organisers in a public invitation said, “Starting from Aranguez Savannah, we will march together towards Woodford Square, where we will gather for a number of informative and inspiring speeches on crime, safety, and security. I will discuss the root causes of crime in our country and what we can do to address them.
“We need your involvement to bring about a safe and peaceful society. Join us at Woodford Square from 4.30 pm to 6 pm, where you can meet and interact with other concerned citizens, civil society, and religious leaders. Together, we can make a difference and demand that our leaders take action to address this issue.”
