ELECTRICITY restoration efforts are continuing following adverse weather across Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday night.
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) in a press release on Thursday stated that heavy winds and rain contributed to landslides, fallen trees and poles and burst overhead lines, which have impacted on the commission’s ability to respond to reports.
T&TEC stated that all crews have been called out to assist with restoration efforts.
Large-area outages currently exist on the North Coast, from Maracas to Blanchisseuse, Rampanalgas and Mathura.
However, supply has been restored in several areas, including Manzanilla, some parts of Sangre Grande and environs, Santa Cruz, Malabar, Crown Point, Hope, parts of Mason Hall, Caparo Valley, Haleland Park and Barataria.
T&TEC stated, “Due to the impact of the weather across the country, our call centre has been experiencing high call volumes. Customers may therefore experience delays in call response. Our crews are working systematically to respond to all reports as quickly as possible. Due to the number of reports, we are unable to provide estimated restoration times for each area, but we expect to complete all before the end of the day. We apologise for the inconvenience being experienced and thank you for your continued patience.”
The list of areas affected include: Petit Valley, Hard Bargain, Longdenville, St Joseph, Morvant, Williamsville, Enterprise Village, St Augustine, Mt Irvine, North Coast – Maracas to Blanchisseuse, San Francique, Penal, Couva, Arima, Lambeau, Maraval, Rio Claro, Edinburgh 500, D’abadie, Lowlands Carenage, Point Fortin, Freeport, Guanapo, Delaford, Cascade, Granville, Cedros, Woodford Lodge, La Horquetta, Moriah, Glencoe, Debe, Cunupia, Santa Rosa Heights, Mason Hall, San Juan, Fyzabad Carolina Village, Wallerfield, Diego Martin, Point Fortin, Flanagin Town, Tacarigua, Gasparillo, Carapichima, Kelly Village, Mayaro, Gran Couva, Carnbee, Tableland, Chase Village, Balandra, Belle Garden, Guayaguayare, Charlieville, Sans Souci, Toco Castara Road, Mt St George, Poole Village Mamoral, Valencia, Pembroke, Potato Trace, La Romain, Mc Bean, Little Cora Rd, Cumuto, Canaan, Princes Town, California, Bloody Bay Road, New Grant, Montrose, Marabella, Chaguanas and San Fernando.
