THE Education Solution Specialists (ESS) Ltd is partnering with Corporate Trinidad and Tobago to provide access to C21Ed.
A release on Wednesday from ESS stated: “C21Ed Camp STEAM program utilises recycled materials and a problem-based learning approach to provide engaging experiences for every student.”
ESS has brought C21Ed Camp STEAM to T&T and the Caribbean as part of their global education network, the release stated.
The organisation is a local EdTech company with a focus on delivering engaging and meaningful learning experiences to students through teacher training and professional development, delivery of Education hardware and software solutions and STEM learning.
In addition, the C21Ed Camp STEAM offers students ages nine to14 years, a ten-day accelerated curriculum inclusive of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.
“The Camp program will offer sessions throughout July, supporting between two to three hours of practical work with virtual online counselors on hand to answer questions and provide encouragement,” ESS stated.
Moreover, Digital badges, certificates and scored challenges reward and recognize student efforts and achievements. Student to student conversation is moderated to allow a safe and secure collaborative environment.
Over the course of two weeks, participating students will have the ability to:
- Review concepts through video, animation and notes while offering the ability to create and test solutions through recording, and sharing results with a virtual teacher
- Have access to selected fiction and non-fiction e-books to support literacy catch up. Logins to LightSail’s literacy development platform and selected summer texts will be provided for each student. They will also be provided with access to Canva, an online visual communications platform with a mission to empower everyone in the world to design anything and publish anywhere.
- Learn in Spanish and or English. The platform also auto-translates messages and postings and the camp counsellors are bilingual.
- Allow students to utilize recycled or readily found household or kitchen materials. Where special measuring equipment is needed, students are shown how to create their own. Activities are designed for creative use of non-standard measures, providing beneficial long-term life skills as well as reduces the barriers to access of requiring expensive or scarce equipment or kits.
Brendon Butts, Managing Director ESS said, “We are excited to be able to bring this opportunity to our students and even more so by the support from our corporate partners to make this accessible to those students with limited resources.”
He also thanked corporate sponsors such as Republic Bank, Digicel Business and LNG producer Atlantic for the opportunity to provide virtual learning for over 1,000 students.
