OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has issued congratulations to the Progressive Democratic Patriots PDP for winning the Tobago House of Assembly THA election on Monday.
In a statement issued, Persad-Bissessar stated that the people of Tobago have spoken with clear voices not to be ignored.
The United National Congress (UNC) the party that Persad-Bissessar leads did not contest in the historic election that saw the People’s National Movement PNM being booted out of office after 20 years.
Persad-Bissessar said, “Congratulations to Tobago for choosing new leaders to help chart a course towards a future for sustainable opportunities and transformation for all in Tobago. In particular, congratulations to Mr Watson Duke, Mr Farley Augustine and all members and supporters of the Progressive Democratic Patriots on your resounding victory in the December 2021 THA elections. May God richly bless you in all your endeavours as you work together to serve the best interests of the people of Tobago and Trinidad.”
The new leaders are expected to be sworn in on Thursday.
