THE inauguration of Donald Trump as the United States President yet again is truly a great day for the US democracy.
This is according to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar who issued congratulations to the US President on Monday.
In a media release, she stated, “I salute President Trump’s resilience, commitment, and fighting spirit. He has survived assassination attempts, political persecution, and years of personal attacks, but he triumphed in the end.”
Persad-Bissessar said she paid close attention to Trump’s inaugural speech and the list of executive orders he announced was faithful to his campaign promises, the basis of his comprehensive electoral victory.
She also said she anticipated significant and dramatic changes in international cooperation, diplomacy, foreign affairs, and bilateral relations.
“The peoples of Trinidad and Tobago and the United States of America have profound and essential connections at many levels, and our futures are inevitably intertwined. President Trump is the leader America needs right now, and I wish him and his Government God’s richest blessings and guidance in all their actions for the greater good of America and the rest of the world,” Persad-Bissessar said.
However, the Opposition Leader criticised the former Biden administration describing it as “a disaster for the American people and the world.”
Highlighting the woke culture, she said that administration “offended basic common sense and morality, overturned the norms of civilized public life, disoriented and mutilated children, censored and canceled dissenting views, disparaged religious and conservative values, fueled wars around the world, weaponised the judicial system against political opponents and increased nepotism, corruption, crime, poverty, homelessness and wealth inequality.”
On Monday, Trump took his oath of office for a historic second US presidential term as the US 47th president.
