OPPOSITION Leader and political leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Kamla Persad-Bissessar is calling all citizens to make an effort and make the change they want to see on Monday.
In her final general election message on Sunday, Persad-Bissessar repeated her message that she made to supporters on Saturday at the UNC Coalition of Interests final rally at Aranguez Savannah, pledging her love.

She said, “Your life won’t change by itself. It needs your touch. There is no cost to vote, but the cost of not voting could be your life. In striving for fairness and equal opportunity, we are all united. When you walk into that polling station on election day, you are casting a vote for the UNC Coalition of Interests to begin taking back your future from the greedy fake elites. You are defending your family from criminals. You are standing up for every community. You are fighting for every child.
“Go out and vote for the candidates of the UNC Coalition of Interests on election day. Your future and that of your loved ones are in your hands. When UNC wins, everybody wins!”
Persad-Bissessar again thanked the membership for the years of support.
“I want to thank you for caring for and loving me. Political leadership is about love, empathy, and caring. It’s about competence, experience, and emotional intelligence. It’s about compassion borne out of shared experiences of sacrifice. Strong, competent leadership is not about bouffing, berating, blaming and bullying citizens; it’s about listening, comforting, encouraging and accepting responsibility for the lives and livelihoods of our people,” she said.
Persad-Bissessar again apologised for all mistakes made, adding that she loves more now than ever.
“And when I am gone, as we all eventually go, I want you to remember these words from one of my favourite songs, “I hope life treats you kind, and I hope you have all you’ve dreamed of, and I wish you joy and happiness. But above all this, I wish you love, and I will always love you,” she said.
Persad-Bissessar said, “My loving people of Trinidad and Tobago, it does not matter if you have supported me in my political career or not, I have always loved and cared for every one of you.”
