TWO new Acting Deputy Commissioners of Police have been appointed.
The senior officers Ramnarine Samaroo and Curt Simon received their instruments of appointment on Wednesday at a small ceremony at the Police Administration Building, Port-of-Spain.
Jacob said the appointments which were approved in Parliament last Friday came at an opportune time as he goes on his vacation. He also said that having two more DCPs appointed to the executive team, meant that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) was in a good position in terms of leadership and expertise.
In his absence, acting DCP Erla Christopher will be in charge of the TTPS.
In a media release, the TTPS stated that Jacob also met with the TTPS’s executive and added that his absence should not interfere with the many initiatives already in progress, while in pursuit of the organization’s strategic priorities and goals set out in the Operational Plan 2022- 2024.
Jacob said, “While I am on leave, I am confident that the commitment and dedication you have demonstrated over the past months will continue, you have shown me that you are fully invested and fully aware of your responsibilities.”
He said, “Through our collective years of experience we understand that crime is not a static phenomenon, therefore as a necessity, we must keep evolving and strategizing, always seeking to adopt and inculcate best practices into our operations, if we are to win the war against crime.”
Jacob also asked the team to give full support to Christopher while he goes on vacation, the release stated.
