THE People’s National Movement government is the most anti-worker and anti-trade union one since Trinidad and Tobago became Independent.
So claimed Couva South MP Rudranath Indarsingh at a press conference at the Office of the Opposition Leader in Port-of-Spain on Sunday.
He said, “The labour relations and the industrial relations environment has sunk to an all time low.
Indarsingh added, “It is unparalleled, it is unprecedented with job losses over 100,000 plus persons and it has been one of union busting…”
He said the Conciliation Division at the Ministry of Labour seem to be in a state of collapse with judgments of the industrial court not being honoured.
And Bartaria/San Juan MP Saddam Hosein called for National Security Minister Stuart Young to resign as a no-confidence motion in him was scheduled to be debated in the Lower House.
He said, “The motion relates to the arrogant, cruel, inhumane, discriminatory and unconstitutional exercise of his power as the minister.
“Minister Young is unfit to be the minster of national security. He has locked down the airports but all borders remain open to illegal immigrants.”
Hosein said Young has not told the population what law he was using to keep citizens out.
Hosein said, “He should save himself the embarrassment and clear his desk before the debate because the leader of the opposition will wipe the parliamentary floor with Minster Young.
