MEMBER of Parliament for Couva South Rudranath Indarsingh is hopeful that the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services office in Camden, Couva, will become more operational,
On Tuesday, at the Standing Finance Committee meeting in Parliament, Cox announced that the ministry and its offices were being restructured.
Indarsingh questioned Social Development Minister Donna Cox on the operations of the Couva office.
Cox said more details will come concerning the restructuring of the ministry’s offices and currently, the office in Camden, Couva that is within walking distance of the MP’s office, has the facility’s unit and a call centre.
Indarsingh said, “In terms of going forward, I may ask of you, based on the traffic that comes to my office to have grants and so on processed, could I ask that you reconsider for some kind of service to still exist for the benefit of the catchment area of Couva.”
“That will be taken into consideration,” was the minister’s response.
Indarsingh later told AZPNews.com, “ The office must once again be used for citizens of Couva and environs to walk in and access services under the Ministry.”
More than 20 communities including should be served by that particular office he said.
