ABOUT 165,000 forms for the valuation of property have been submitted says Minister of Finance Colm Imbert.
He was answering a question in the Lower House on Wednesday about whether there will be an extension of the deadline to submit information for the valuation of properties for property tax.
Imbert said, “According to the law, we have to get to 200,000 before the process of implementation of property tax can commence. However, as a consequence, the Valuations Division was carefully monitoring the situation and an appropriate decision would be taken at an appropriate time.”
He added that the current exercise was driven and led by the Valuation Division.
Imbert said, “On the previous occasion, approximately 127,000 returns were submitted for residential properties. So far on this occasion, a further 55,000 forms have been submitted when disaggregated, we have determined that approximately of that 55,000 about 7,000 were re-submissions and approximately 37,500 were residential.”
Pressed further on whether an extension will be valuation forms, Imbert responded, “The extension would obviously have to take place on or before November 30, if it takes place at all.”
