FLORIDA is reeling from the impact of Hurricane Milton, which has brought widespread destruction across the state.
Officials are warning residents to avoid visiting areas hit hardest by the storm, which unleashed tornadoes, floods, and storm surges.
As of now, more than three million homes and businesses are without power. Governor Ron DeSantis has cautioned that more flooding is anticipated in the coming days, compounding the state’s challenges.
Tragically, four people lost their lives due to tornadoes that struck St Lucie County on the east coast. On the west coast in St Petersburg, the situation is dire as well. The city’s water supply has been cut off, a crane toppled onto a newspaper building, and the roof of a Major League Baseball stadium was torn off by the storm’s fierce winds.
Although Hurricane Milton is now moving into the Atlantic, the aftermath is still being felt across Florida. Many areas remain flooded, with rescue operations underway to assist stranded residents, some of whom are being evacuated by boat.
